Oh My Aida, AKA Trinkets for D, AKA purveyor of hidden boho gems, AKA my stable ground at events. Trinkets for D is the exactly what you envision of “making an impact by shopping small” you can immediately feel upon first glance that this vendor in fact cares, she has hand picked out these items just for you, second to her family - this is her world. She inspires me to care a little more and to be a most understanding person. I thank her for that and invite you to dive a little deep with Trinkets for D.

Tell us about your business, what do you do and how do you make it special?
I make and hunt down beautiful bohemian accessories. I think I make it special because this has always been my style. Its been called different things over the years but its truly who I am... gypsy, hippie, tribal, bohemian.

What was your very first sold item or event you popped up at?
My first pop up was an Indie Craft that was held at the old Tobacco Road in Miami.

How did this business start for you?
My youngest son, "D" was diagnosed with autism about 10 years ago and I had a to find a way to make a living that allowed me to stay home and provide him a solid routine. Its been perfect.

Whats your must dreaded task in what you do?
I would have to say its setting up and breaking down at events in the dead of summer. Its virtually impossible to look good while doing it. LOL!

We all have To Do lists, but let us know what is on your Ta Da list? What are some of your greatest accomplishments and what are you proud of? Dont be shy!
Honestly, pulling this off is my greatest accomplishment. Getting to be home for my family and having my kids thrive is EVERYTHING.

Name your favorite part of vending at an event.

My favorite part is definitely connecting with people, whether its loyal customers,  fellow vendors that have become near and dear, or meeting new kindred spirits. Some days I may not be feeling the most social as I head out to an event, but just a few minutes into it and my spirits are lifted and Im in a good place again.

Now that we know your favorite part, what fears did you have to concur to get where you are now? Most of us have those negative thoughts that say we cant and shouldn't take a risk or do something different, did you experience anything like that?
Definitely my biggest fear was leaving the security of a full time job in corporate America to do something that I love and most importantly, that was needed for my family at the time. It was terrifying but we just did it. It was not easy by any means, but with time proved to be the right choice.

How do you juggle your lifestyle?
Its crazy. Thank God for CBD oil.

Do you have a specific routine or way to stay on top of everything?
If "everything" refers to "business"... not really. I juggle business, with motherhood, and teaching and like 10 other things. So I write things down, send myself reminders and generally just hope for the best. LOL.

Tell us about a lesson you've learned along the way.
Things go wrong, items that were popular eventually aren't, you're not always at the top... when that happens, step back and analyze, try something new, there's always a way back up.

What is your typical or target client?
That's really tough!  I would say that "generally" its someone that thinks a little outside the box.  Its definitely someone that has a free spirit , laid back sense to them.

Who is your inspiration and/or role model?
From a creative standpoint, its Justina Blakeney. She is like to ultimate Boho Momma! So gorgeous and creative. Yea, I'm a huge fan.

What do you hope to be doing in 1 year, 5 years? What is the ultimate goal?
I'll be spending this year trying to change my business model to do more online and in permanent stores. I hope to scale back from the pop up scene and be able to spend more weekends at home. And of course I'm always looking to keep my items interesting and magical in some way.

Where do you hope this journey takes you?
All if ever long for is peace, and if I can have fun and be inspired along the way that's awesome.

What is your favorite book or quote?
Be your own kind of beautiful.
